NITL - TIA AGREE ON MODAL CONTRACT 11/2004
The National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) and the Transportation Intermediaries Assn. (TIA) have reach agreement on a new model Shipper-Broker contract. Chip Smith (president of Twin Modal and TIA board member) chaired a TIA committee which worked with representatives of the NITL Highway Committee chaired by John Gentle (Global Leader Transportation Affairs - Owens Corning Corp.) in negotiating the contract language and provisions. Fuel Prices Skyrocket 4/2004
Fuel Prices continue to skyrocket putting cost pressures on carriers and shippers.  Prices on the west coast have surpassed $2.30/gallon prompting some carriers to implement a separate fuel surcharge for shipments originating and delivering on the west coast. Protesting the high prices are independent truckers and drivers for intermodal draymen who have staged strikes and shutdown blockages at various ports and railroad terminals.

Freight Volumes Surge 4/2004
With the US economy in full swing recovery, freight volumes surged in first quarter of 2004 causing truck shortages in what is normally a sluggish time of the year in freight.  Demand for equipment is expected to remain strong throughout the year especially forth quarter.  Equipment supply was extremely tight last year causing bidding wars among shippers in some regions of the country.

P3 Program Continues to Grow 4/2004
The P3 (Platinum Performance Program) best industry practices program by TIA continues to grow as shippers and carriers seek ways to identify the best players in the intermediary market.  P3 members include property brokers, domestic freight forwarders, motor carriers and freight pre-audit/payment companies. Each has pledged to follow specific best practices for their specific type of business.

Federal Service Hour Regulations

New HazMat Regulations Take Effect

Twin Modal, Inc. announces the expansion of their nationwide office network to Chicago, IL. The Chicago office marks the company's tenth office in the United States and will be headed by David Kreidler. Opening date of operation is forcasted for June 16, 2003.
